AHP Practice Development Facilitator in Breast Imaging

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to employ a Practice Development Facilitator for the Breast Imaging service. The post holder should possess a BSc. in Radiography or equivalent, be state registered, have attained the Postgraduate Award in Mammographic practice, hold a full current UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle for work purposes.

The main aspects of the role includes supporting staff that are undertaking the post graduate mammography or the mammography apprenticeship course. In addition, there should be a focus of the development the needs on the non-medical workforce generally, promoting concordance with statutory and mandatory training and appraisals. The post holder is required to maintain an identifiable clinical presence, work in practice and undertake relevant clinical activities to maintain own clinical competency and to support staff in developing clinical practice. Ensuring that evidence-based practice is developed and implemented to improve patient care is a particular focus. Duties will be undertaken at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire Hospital, the Coventry City Health Centre Unit, George Eliot Hospital, Nuneaton, and on the three mobile breast screening units according to NHSBSP guidelines.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work in the breast screening and symptomatic service, overseeing mammography staff in training roles, and supporting the workforce with their development needs. They will work in partnership with stakeholders and the AHP faculty team to ensure the development of inter professional learning opportunities, supporting the undergraduate radiographers that are on rotation within UHCW.o Support the implementation and monitoring of governance frameworks for ensuring high quality learning experiences.o To update the departmental mammography training plan.o To ensure students are supported in becoming competent and capable practitioners within an inter-professional framework by facilitating the teaching, supervising and mentoring of students and registered practitioners in a variety of settings.o To ensure structures are in place to provide pastoral support to students who are experiencing professional / personal issues within practice setting.o Demonstrate knowledge of professional education and act as a learning resource for inter professional learning in practice.o Ensure all learning activities are in accordance with evidenced based practice and in line with Trust policies and departmental work instructions.Please be advised the interviews for this post are due to take place on 17/01/2025.

To complete ergonomic assessments of staff and recommend good practice To ensure that high standards of professional care are maintained, in line with NHSBSP guidance and professional regulation standards (such as the Health and Care Professional Council (HCPC) and the Nursing and Midwifery Code (MNC Code) Identify suitable material on professional issues (articles of interest) and maintain an online resource folder that staff can access Review and contribute to improvements within the induction packages, listening to staff feedback) Lead on the obtaining quarterly feedback from a range of staff on the learning environment and support any recommended improvements. Plan access to mentoring and assessment courses. To provide group and individual clinical supervision To support the service lead and managers with any performance management goals Maintaining internal and external networks to facilitate learning Participate in the annual training forecast Always act as a positive role model and promote concordance with statutory and mandatory training updates. In situations of extreme pressure, when the service needs to activate the Business Continuity Plan, support operations to promote a safe working environment- including supporting the service as a radiographer (in primary of secondary care).
