Locum Consultant In Trauma and Orthopaedics

We are looking to appoint a locum consultant trauma and orthopaedic surgeon with an interest in trauma surgery to commence as soon as possible for a period of 6-12 months with potential to extend. This post is to facilitate one of our consultants coming off the adult on-call rota to take up a regional training role.

The successful candidate will predominantly carry out trauma surgery including complex trauma of the upper and lower limbs that presents to a busy major trauma centre such as UHCW. The candidate will join the general adult on-call rota. This will comprise being on-call 1:16 weekdays and 1:8 weekends.

Applicants should ideally have fellowship training in trauma surgery and experience of working in the UK major trauma system. If the successful candidate has an elective orthopaedic interest, attempts will be made to facilitate clinic and operating space for this interest if it fits with the needs of the department, we currently have a requirement for lower limb arthroplasty surgery.

Other duties will include cover of specialist trauma lists for the management of complex periarticular injuries and open fractures in conjunction with our team of plastic surgeons. The candidate will demonstrate ability to train orthopaedic trainees in theatre and clinic. There will be provision to support the candidate with CPD, research and audit.
