Job summary
This role has been designed to work within and support the dermatology clinical nurse specialist team across the UHCW sites, and provide a nurse led service to a wide range of dermatology patients with chronic skin conditions. The service is expanding and is expected to keep on growing.
The post requires a host of skills including IT literacy, organisation, data collection versatility to mention a few. The successful candidate will assist the team both in and out of clinics, as well as other admin duties.
Main duties of the job
1. To participate as a member of the dermatology multidisciplinary team (MDT) to ensure the highest standard of patient care, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
2. Participate in educating patients/ carers and other healthcare professionals on the management of dermatology conditions. Be responsible for the ordering and stock levels of patient information leaflets and putting together of patients treatment starter packs.
3. Responding to patient's enquiries left on the dermatology CNS team inbox and dealing with (including escalation if required) queries in a timely manner. Use independent judgement analysis to aim to resolve problems when dealing with patients and reassure patients when necessary.
4. Following training and assessment to undertake and record clinical tasks and observations, which may include, blood pressure measurement, urinalysis and specimen collection.
5. To communicate using appropriate verbal and non-verbal methods, in a variety of situations that may involve understanding and overcoming physical and / or psychological barriers.

7. Perform administration skills including and not exclusive to, the monitoring and organisation of patient's prescriptions. The establishment and population of spreadsheets, databases and photocopy of documents as requested.
8. Liaise with the admin team to organise and arranging outpatient appointments and follow up treatment on instruction of medical staff/trained nurses in conjunction with the appointments section.
9. To support multidisciplinary outpatient clinics as directed.
10. To enter and update patient documentation, data and records, utilising the computerised information systems.
11. To report all accidents/incidents taking initial appropriate action.
12. To take responsibility for the work area ensuring trust health and safety regulations are promoted, including cleaning and tidying equipment and notes.
13. To carry out all duties in a professional manner, adhering to the policies and procedures of the Trust and conforming to current legislation.
14. To undertake any relevant training and to be active in developing knowledge and skills to support practice, under the guidance of the Department Manager.
15. Undertake agreed clinical and non-clinical tasks, extending range following training in defined practices. Ensure referral to the appropriate healthcare practitioner where appropriate.
