An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Clinical Fellow to join our Neuro-Oncology team on a 12-month fixed-term basis. This is a post aimed at a pre/post CCT Neurosurgeon who would like to get additional experience in Neuro-Oncology.
The neurosurgery department is an established department with a team of nine Consultants with subspecialties in Neuro-Oncology, Vascular,Pituitary, Skull base and Spine. The department provides Neurosurgical services to the adult population of Coventry, Warwickshire and NorthWorcestershire.
UHCW is a designated major trauma centre for Coventry, Warwickshire and Northampton, a designated cancer centre and hyperacute Stroke unit.

Main duties of the job
To provide, in collaboration with clinical colleagues, a comprehensive Neurosurgery service to patients in the Coventry and Warwickshire area.This will include ensuring that all appropriate waiting lists and waiting times are adhered to; that services are provided in an effective and efficientmanner and that the principles of risk management and clinical governance are maintained at all times. Whilst this position is not a formal RCSapproved fellowship, the successful applicant will be given the opportunity to work alongside the existing Neuro-oncology surgeons to obtainexperience and skills in a range of Neuro-oncology procedures including:
o Image guided brain biopsyo Day case Neuro-oncology surgeryo Image guided Intra-axial brain tumour debulking/resectiono Ultrasound guided tumour resectionso 5 ALA guided resectionso Awake craniotomyo Cortical and subcortical mappingo Resection of supratentorial, infratentorial and spinal benign lesions
Weekly attendance at Neuro-oncology MDT & Neuro-oncology Clinics with close liaison with Neuro-oncology Clinical Nurse Specialists.
