Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic Pensions Officer, to help administer NHS and NEST Pensions within our busy Payroll Department, ensuring the delivery of a high quality service to our work force and external organisations.

You will support the Pensions Team Leader and Payroll Management ensuring all processes within the department is adhered to in a timely and accurate manner, working closely with Payroll, Human Resources, and ISS

You will need to have strong numerical and communication skills, along with the ability to work methodically and show attention to detail. This is an interesting role and we are looking for a conscientious team player who will ensure our high standards and positive reputation is maintained.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will assist in the day-to-day administration and maintenance of pensions records to ensure accurate and timely data is provided to the NHS Pensions Agency and scheme members on request.

The overall aim is to assist the Pensions Department to provide accurate information on request to staff, managers, and the NHS Pensions Agency; ensuring accurate payment of benefits and to support the Pensions Team Leader in the proficient running and success of the Pensions Department.

The post holder will receive support to deal with complex enquiries and offer guidance on NHS Pension Scheme as a specialised subject, they will be required to work independently and as part of a Team.

Notify NHS Pensions Agency of current members of staff who retire, pass away, leave, or opt out of the Scheme via Pensions online.

Aid Pensions Team Leader to data cleanse errored Pension records following notification by the NHS Pensions Agency in a timely manner.

On request use Pensions Online to provide estimates of potential benefits payable to members and costs to employer in respect of all types of retirements and preserved benefits. Provide comparison of benefits payable where a member is considering future changes to their work patterns.

Process opt-out forms for current members on ESR and complete the employer section of the SD502. Where necessary close the record down via Pensions Online

Process Refund Forms via Pension Online and check refund is paid to the member within the deadline.

Calculate manual pension refunds including any relevant National Insurance adjustments; and ensuring NI C category staff have verified DOBs for system updates.

Forward retirement applications to employees on request with a covering letter and pension estimate. Check returned application forms are completed correctly and all relevant certificates have been received.
