Job summary

Due to the promotion of the current postholder, we have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and highly motivatedOperational & Performance Manager to work with the Group Management Team in Trauma and Neuro Services, covering Neurosurgery, Neurology, Neurophysiology and Stroke. This role is ideal for anyone who is looking to broaden their operational experience as a Manager within the NHS and acute services.

The Operational and Performance Manager will be a highly committed and enthusiastic individual and will be an integral part of the Group Management Team, supporting the Clinical Head of Service, Group Manager, Associate Group Manager and Modern Matron in the development and provision of a comprehensive, high quality, patient centered care service. Key roles of the post are responsibility for performance indicators, including the delivery of 18weeks, responsibility in delivering performance against financial and activity targets and supporting the delivery of the Group Strategy.This is an excellent opportunity for an individual seeking a career in management who wishes to gain additional experience and to develop their existing skills. The ideal candidate will be ambitious and have experience of leading staff, delivering NHS targets and dealing with operational issues within a management role. You will be committed to your own personal development. You must have the ability to manage a busy workload and delivering against tight deadlines.

Main duties of the job

The Operational and Performance Manager is an essential part of the Group Management Team, supporting the Clinical Service Leads, Group/Associate Group Manager's, Matrons and the Surgical Group Triumvirate in the development and provision of a comprehensive, high quality, patient-centered care service.

You will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day operational management of the services and the key performance metrics associated with this. An operational background and working knowledge of RTT and cancer is essential, you will be a key player in supporting the organisation to deliver excellent, high-quality services for our patients.

You will need to be resilient, confident & possess skills that will enable you to understand the service: you will be creative in your approach to problem solving and have an ability to think differently.

Job responsibilities

  1. Support to the Group Manager & Associate Group Manager ensuring clear communication and robust implementation of policy, business objectives and agreed targets

  2. Provide support to the Group Director of Operations, Group Director of Nursing & AHPs and Clinical Director to ensure sound operational management of services and ensuring that services are continuously improved
  3. Support the group in the delivery of operational performance within the Trauma and Neurosciences Group specialties to achieve delivery of national and local targets, the development and delivery of improvement plans.
  4. In liaison with the Group Manager, Associate Group Manager and the Group Finance Manager agree and deliver against financial and activity profiles for relevant specialties, identify risks and implement and review risk reduction strategies
  5. Provide support in the implementation and review robust systems and processes so that specialty budgets are effectively managed and financial balance is achieved, within Trust budgetary rules, Standing Orders and Standing Financial Instructions
  6. Implement HR and governance strategies and policies within relevant services in order to achieve compliancy with Trust policies and procedures, best practice, relevant legislation and regulatory provisions.
