This post will offer you the opportunity to work across two prestigious hospitals in Coventry and Rugby which include a bredth of specialties including Stroke, Care of the Elderly, Orthopaedics, an Upper Limb Unit, Neurosciences, Medicine, Surgery, an Outpatient Rehabilitation Unit and Inpatient Rehabilitation.

To provide the best patient care, The Trust offers a 7 day service, but don't worry, we highly value our staff's wellbeing and work to ensure that you are at your best ensuring that you get your downtime and time to recharge.

Main duties of the job

  • Overall responsibility for providing clinical leadership in the strategic and operational provision of core and advanced Optometry services within the Ophthalmology department.
  • To lead a team of optometrists in sub-specialty service in collaboration with Consultant Ophthalmologists
  • To deliver care in a wide range of core and advanced sub-speciality clinics and provide teaching at pre and post graduate level for multiple disciplines within Ophthalmology.
  • Assume overall responsibility and management of the departmental budget and financial planning to ensure financial sustainability.
  • Collaborative working with the Clinical Service Lead Ophthalmologist and General Manager to ensure operational delivery and strategic development of the service.
  • Delivery of access targets to ensure a safe, quality service within the Optometry and Optical Dispensary Team
  • Overall responsibility for the delivery of the Optical Dispensary ("Spec Shop") as part of a staff well-being program
