Job summary
The post holder joins an experienced and innovative Pharmacy Strategic Leadership Team (SLT) reporting to the Director of Pharmacy.
The post holder will have the strategic and operational freedom to shape a strong team to ensure we are able to deliver today and build our strategy for where we want to be tomorrow, aligned to the department strategic vision. As a role model and champion for Clinical Pharmacy, the post holder will maintain and lead a profile within Pharmacy, the Trust and into our wider system partners.
The existing post holder has been successful in the recruitment to the Director of Pharmacy role. This opens the way for a dynamic and dedicated pharmacist to lead our pharmacy services as the Deputy Director of Pharmacy at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust.
Recent strong Trust investment into pharmacy clinical services has allowed us to expand our profile and clinical service offerings across the Trust. This summer our bespoke automated dispensary goes live, we have also moved our fluids towards an outsourced managed service. Hot on its heels is our Trust wide Electronic Patient Record (EPR) rollout which promises to greatly improve our medication management across the Trust.
We have the foundations to push on and deliver our vision that a majority of our teams are patient facing, adding value to every step of the patients medication journey, which takes us beyond our boundaries and into partnership with our ICS colleagues.
Main duties of the job

Key responsibilities of the role will be to:
- As an engaged and informed leader to lead our Pharmacy Services
- Co-develop and deliver a Pharmacy Strategy which is aligned to our Trust strategy
- Develop and sustain performance metrics that connect the dots
- Drive the Medicines Optimisation agenda across our wards and clinical areas
- Work in partnership at a Deputy Director level with the wider trust, external provider and system colleagues
