Locum Consultant Urologist with Stone Disease Interest

At University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust we have a fantastic opportunity for a Locum Consultant to join our Urology team on a 12 month fixed term basis. We are looking for someone who is passionate about the work they do and is keen to play an integral role in our Urology team.

You'll be expected to work in conjunction with the existing general urologists to provide a sustainable service for the treatment of Urinary stone disease and general urology. The post holder would involve taking part in the on call services for urology on a 1 in 9 basis.

Our Urology Day Unit provides facilities for day case theatre including TURP, HoLEP, Ureteroscopy, flexible cystoscopy, TULA and fusion LATP (Koelis and Hitachi). Inpatient surgery predominately takes place a dedicated Urology theatre, equipped with a Da Vinci X and Xi robots, Storz and Olympus stacks, mono- and bi-polar resection equipment, a selection of disposable and re-usable flexible ureteroscopes, 30W and 100W holmium lasers as well as standard and miniPCNL.

Main duties of the job

You will:

  • Have a minimum of two outpatient clinics per week.
  • Have access to scheduled theatre sessions in day unit and/or main theatres.
  • Undertake administrative duties associated with the care of their patients and the running of clinical areas.
  • Demonstrate financial awareness and understand the impact of the team's decisions.
  • Take ongoing responsibility for patients under your care.
  • Contribute to the effective leadership and management of the team encouraging constructive feedback from all involved.
  • Produce and support solution-focused decisions based on fact and not anecdote.
  • Participate fully in the education and training of medical students, trainee doctors, paramedical, nursing and other appropriate staff.
