As we embark on implementing our new EPR, we are expanding our systems development team and are therefore looking for an enthusiastic and motivated senior level data expert to join us who will be responsible for development of pro-active and technically complex information databases, processing systems and web-based information deployment. This is to support and meet the demanding corporate and clinical information requirements of the Trust and improve the processing, production and distribution of activity and performance information within the Trust.

As the organisation's technical expert, the post holder will be responsible for recommending and implementing improvements to streamline and enhance existing processes and systems, promoting greater efficiency and effectiveness within the information department.

Using technical expertise, the post holder will effectively manage complex internal and external information requirements through liaison with key staff, including Senior Managers, Executives, Directors, Heads of Departments, Senior Clinical/Medical staff and Senior Management team.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will ensure all information produced across the department adheres to the development methodology and will work with other senior managers and the Head of Informatics to develop a set of standards for internal information reporting.

The post holder will ensure there is no duplication of reports and assure that all internal information is fit for purpose and available through a single information reporting portal linked to the PAS data warehouse and is fully reconcilable.

The post holder will lead and manage the technical team of Developers.

We are looking for a proactive, ambitious and forward thinking individual who can lead a team and has the ability to undertake highly complex statistical analyses, data/business modelling and projections and lead the development of the Trust's Business Intelligence System .They must be innovative and imaginative in resolving problems and able to deliver accurate work within strict timescales. As a manager of staff, they should also have the ability to prioritise their own and others workload and good communication and interpersonal skills are essential.

This role will give you opportunities to be involved in high level strategic work across the Trust supporting complex programmes of work and liaising with senior colleagues and clinical professionals. The post holders main duties will include the following:

1. To support and meet the demanding corporate and clinical information requirements of UHCW as well as improving the processing, production, and distribution of activity and performance information within the Trust.

2. Using technical expertise, effectively manage complex internal and external information requirements through liaison with key staff, including Senior Managers, Executives, Directors, Heads of Departments, Senior Clinical/Medical staff and Senior Management team.

3. To chair various meetings and lead discussions and specification of new information processing and reporting requirements. Use knowledge and expertise to recommend and implement agreed solutions. Ensuring that the process is robust, efficient and well documented.

4. To undertake the development and use of web based reporting tools. Including designing, maintaining and developing reports, for different audiences, assisting colleagues in the use of these tools.

5. To lead the development of a complex programme of work (technical solution) that will ensure that the Trust can meet and surpass its 18 week national target in a sustainable manner.

6. To ensure that the data repository and processes fully support contracting reporting requirements including Payment by Results (PbR).

7. Take a strategic view and contribute to the development of data warehouse and technical solutions throughout the Trust, ensuring these solutions are fit for purpose and that staff are at the forefront of technology to deliver such services

8. Managerial responsibility for the Information Systems Development team staff in line with Trust policy and protocols.

9. To cascade knowledge and skills and train colleagues with any new techniques and technologies as necessary.

10. Work with the senior members of the ISD team to assess and develop improved working practices.
