Job summary

The post holder will provide highly specialist safeguarding advice and support within the Trust on safeguarding matters for adults. The Named Nurse for Safeguarding Adults will support with ensuring that the organisation is compliant with Care Quality Commission (CQC) standards, and is able to discharge safeguarding responsibilities effectively under the Care Act 2014 and related legislation i.e. Mental Capacity Act Amendment Bill (2019). This will involve working as an expert to support and facilitate the safeguarding of adults in line with local and national guidelines and policy.

The post holder will be required to build and maintain effective working relationships across clinical area and partnership agencies to improve 'Making Safeguarding Personal' for adults. Advice and support for Trust staff on a daily basis through supervision and training will ensure the appropriate assessment of risks are undertaken in order to improve outcomes for adults with care and support needs.

Main duties of the job

Maintain expertise, knowledge and professional leadership to the Trust regarding statutory responsibilities towards safeguarding adults. Actively disseminate effective safeguarding adult knowledge and research from publications, attendance at conferences, in order to contribute to staff development in practice across the Trust.

Lead a culture of continuous quality improvement and innovation within the safeguarding adult agenda

Be the lead for Prevent and Mental Capacity including Liberty Protection Safeguards across the Trust.

Collate data and deliver relevant reports of safeguarding adult's activity as required to relevant committees including the Safeguarding Adult, Children and Young People Committee, Trust Board and the Local Safeguarding Adults Board.

To support the Learning Disability agenda in the Trust.

Work in partnership with the Local Safeguarding Adults Board and its subgroups to facilitate effective Safeguarding practice.

Deputise for the Lead Professional for Safeguarding when required.
