Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity to join the leadership team within the Stroke Services. Ward 41 is a Hyper- Acute Stroke Unit which cares for Stroke patients from the Emergency Department and during the acute phase of their stroke. Ward 41 is a 36 bedded unit, including 6 hyper-Acute stroke beds.

Stroke is Centralising and UHCW is about to become the main centre for stroke patients throughout the whole of Warwickshire - an exciting development for the team and we want you to be part of it!

Main duties of the job

Ward 41 Clinical Sisters / Charge Nurse are responsible for continually aiming for high standards of care and supporting the management team. In turn the management team will support your professional development and offer guidance for your career goals. The post holder will be expected to coordinate the ward and work clinically. An understanding of the operational demands and clinical pressures are essential whilst maintaining quality of care and patient safety.

1. Accountable for own actions in accordance with the Code of Professional Conduct. Will contribute to corporate objectives, acting within local, trust and statutory guidelines and policies at all times.

2. Effectively communicate information regarding clinical decisions, policy and care pathways to patients/ carers and the multi-professional team.

3. A skilled practitioner and clinical leader providing support to the management team, participating in service/policy development.

4. Responsible for clinical assessment of a group of patients and management of a team, ensuring appropriate care is planned, implemented and evaluated/audited.

5. Organisation of cross-departmental/organisational activities including HR, resourse, and bleep holder responsibilities as appropriate.

6. Demonstrate highly technical and/or practical skills to ensure optimum patient management including; complex patient monitoring, equipment management and frequent administration of invasive tests/procedures.
