Job summary
- Assess and interpret safety and clinical data from assigned studies, e.g. Vital signs, ECG's, laboratory tests, adverse events etc;- Support the timely delivery of selected research studies to acceptable medical standards, inline with the requirements of sponsors, the protocol, ICH GCP, and other appropriate guidelines and regulations. values JD V1 Nov17 CK- Where required, provide medical cover outside of normal working hours, as determined by the nature of the studies being undertaken at the time;- Undertake and maintain appropriate life support training and, in partnership with R&D and CRF senior management and staff, initiate definitive strategies to anticipate and expertly manage medical safety issues, including emergencies;- Undertake and maintain GCP training and attend other appropriate training;- Participate in the writing, and review, of appropriate Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in association with R&D governance;- Contribute to the risk assessment and planning of risk mitigation strategies for early phase trials;- As a representative of R&D and the CRF, develop positive relationships with Sponsors and regional and national research networks;- Any other duties as may be deemed reasonable by the R&D and CRF senior management team.
Main duties of the job
Hours will routinely be worked weekdays, with the post holder required to provide medical cover outside of normal working hours on occasion, as determined by the nature of the studies being undertaken.
Working alongside experienced researchers and their teams, the Clinical Research Physician will provide medical support for the implementation and delivery of selected research studies. The post holder will be supported by an experienced and award-winning multi-disciplinary Research and Development (R&D) Team.
The post holder will require a flexible approach to work, with working hours being dependent on service demand. Hours will routinely be worked weekdays, with the post holder required to provide medical cover outside of normal working hours on occasion, as determined by the nature of the studies being undertaken. Predominantly based at University Hospital, Coventry, the post holder may also be required to work at the Hospital of St Cross, Rugby on occasion.
The successful applicant will be enthusiastic and energetic with good interpersonal skills and hold MB ChB or equivalent, with full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) and a license to practice; research experience is desirable but not essential.
