Job summary

An exciting new opportunity has arisen within the Performance & Informatics portfolio for a motivated and innovative manager with strategic vision to join us as the Associate Director of Performance and Informatics.

This is an excellent time to join us as University Hospital Coventry & Warwickshire as we recover services, reflect and learn from the COVID-19 pandemic. In this new role, the Associate Director of Performance and Informatics will provide support to the Director of Performance and Informatics with overall leadership and direction to Performance and Informatics, Patient Access, Cancer Services and Clinical Coding Team.

As the Associate Director of Performance and Informatics, you will possess a comprehensive understanding of NHS KPIs / Waiting Times and associated responsibilities for the timely delivery of activity associated with patient flow, a proven track record of managing teams which combined with first class communication and influencing skills will allow you to successfully motivate and influence the Performance and Informatics teams within UHCW.

Main duties of the job

This is a lead role within Performance & Informatics and should you be successful you will support the development of the Trust's Performance Management Framework (PMF), in order to deliver Trust strategic and operational objectives, ensuring it reflects national, regional and local frameworks and requirements.

This is a vital role within the organisation and requires you to be a committed, motivated, organised and pro-active individual. You will need to possess excellent initiative and communication skills and be able to develop effective working relationships with colleagues both within and external to UHCW. You will have an exceptional attention to detail with the ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines. You will be pro-active in seeking out areas of best practice to integrate within the teams day to day work.

Main Duties/Responsibilities1. Support the Director of Performance and Informatics in the development an effective Trust Performance Management Framework, taking into account national, regional and local requirements and patient and public experience of service.

2. Ensure there is robust performance monitoring of all national, regional and local standards and targets and Key Performance Indicators. To ensure appropriate performance information is readily available for managing the Trusts agenda and reporting performance to key forums including the Trust Board, Board sub-committees and review meetings with Groups.

3. The post holder will use their skills, influence and expertise to promote a culture of performance improvement across the organisation.

4. Act as a delegated authority for the review and initial sign off of national returns and performance data prior to Director sign-off.

Leadership and Management

1. The post holder will provide effective line management for the Performance and Informatics portfolio. The post holder will provide professional leadership, coaching, and technical / personal development to the staff in the team to ensure that, as a team, they meet the operational and strategic needs of the Trust. To be responsible for recruitment, performance and disciplinary issues as necessary.

Performance Management Framework

1. Support the development of the Trust's Performance Management Framework (PMF), in order to deliver Trust strategic and operational objectives, ensuring it reflects national, regional and local frameworks and requirements.

2. Continually support the development of performance management processes across the Trust, working alongside the Director of Performance and Informatics in undertaking an in-depth monthly assessment of the Trusts position in relation to performance and productivity targets, ensuring robust plans are in place to address variance.

3. Ensure robust performance data is readily available for Groups and Directors prior to monthly review meetings and for the monthly Trust Board Integrated Performance Report, including: the development of Trust and Clinical Group Scorecard indicators and targets, and the production of associated trajectories.

4. Support in ad hoc performance review meetings as necessary in line with recovery templates, ensuring that an appropriate record is produced and that agreed actions are performance managed.

5. In the absence of the Director hold responsibility for the validity of performance metrics ensuring all data capture processes are robust and in line with national guidance.
