Job summary
West Midlands Ambulance Service University NHS Foundation Trust is looking to recruit motivated individuals with a caring nature who are willing to complete an 18 month Intermediate Apprenticeship in Healthcare Support Work for our Non-Emergency Patient Transport Services Contracts across the region.
**PLEASE NOTE**Applicants who already hold a Level 2 or above in Healthcare Support or Health & Social Care are unfortunately not eligible for this post
The post holder will perform the duties of a Non-Emergency Patient Transport Apprentice complying with protocols and local agreements with a high duty of care. The main purpose is to transport patients with varying mobility's to and from treatment centres or other venues as directed, this may be by car, ambulance or other vehicle type. You will undertake training in the use of Ambulance Service lifting equipment and first aid.
The successful candidate must be willing to complete an Intermediate Apprenticeship qualification and must already hold both English & Maths qualifications at level 1 or above (GCSE grade 2 / E or above)
A driving licence is not essential for the apprenticeship role, however, applicants who wish to apply for a substantive position at the end of their apprenticeship must have a full UK driving licence at this point.

If this position involves a regulated activity it will require an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check. The disclosure will, where appropriate to the role, include information against the Independent Safeguarding Authority barred lists for working with children, adults or both
Where a Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check is required for the post, all applicants are required to cover the cost of the check. The cost of £55.76 for an enhanced check is payable to our online provider at the time that the DBS application is submitted. Upon receipt of your DBS you will then be required to sign up to the DBS online update service.
