An exciting opportunity has become available for a Digital Communications Officer.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will play the lead role in ensuring that the Trusts vision, plans and performance are clearly presented via our digital channels. You will develop and produce engaging digital communication initiatives, plans and content through writing copy, taking pictures and producing video and graphics

A key part of the job will be to develop the Trusts new website and social media channels so that the information reaches the largest audience possible, particularly so called hard to reach groups. In this role, you will utilise analytics to assess the effectiveness of digital communications, making data-driven improvements, and horizon scanning for emerging digital innovations to enhance engagement with stakeholders. This will enable you to evaluate and report on the Trusts digital channels to ensure their presence is maximised

Applicants must have experience of producing videos and taking quality photographs for use on social media, as part of a campaign, for a project supporting another department or to support good news stories.

Another key are of the role will be to lead the Trusts development of accessible documentation

You will provide communication and marketing communications advice to managers staff and committees and provide advice to colleagues on how to enhance our digital channels

You will also play an integral part of the communications team including being part of the on-call rota.

Develop and analyse high complex data on social media algorithms to inform how the Trust uses social media platforms to maximise the reach to so called hard to reach communities

Ensure all online content is regularly reviewed, is up-to-date and maintained, whilst supporting departments to develop content.

Knowledge, Training & Experience

Have an expert knowledge of digital technologies and information systems, in particular, content and document management systems, web development, mobile platforms and applications

Deliver advice and training to the communications team to enhance their digital communication capability

Have an expert knowledge of social media tools and a proven track record in successfully engaging users via these channels. You should have knowledge of latest content and platform trends in communications, social and digital

Knowledge of search engine optimisation (SEO) techniques

Excellent working knowledge of usability, accessibility (WCAG 2.0) and web standards

Experience in adding, editing and structuring online materials using web content management systems (Wordpress experience desirable but not essential)

Experience in the creation and testing of HTML

Advanced image creation and manipulation skills, using editing software

Ability to write in plain English

Keeping abreast of digital developments to ensure the Trust is in line with best practice and undertake research of new developments

Keep up to date with changes in the law, which reflect online issues and be alert to potential legal pitfalls
