We are looking for enthusiastic and hardworking individuals to join us as Pharmacy Supply Assistants, supporting the accurate and timely supply of medicines across the organisation. If you are organised, proactive, and enjoy working as part of a busy team, this could be the role for you.
About the Role
As a Pharmacy Supply Assistant, you will help ensure that wards and departments receive the medicines and pharmaceutical products they need. Working across dispensary, distribution and logistics, you will play an essential role in maintaining an efficient and responsive pharmacy service.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supplying medicines and pharmaceuticals to wards and departments
- Supporting stock management and ensuring accurate documentation
- Assisting with the coordination of the ward top-up service
- Monitoring workflow within the distribution area
- Providing excellent communication with pharmacy colleagues and clinical teams
Main duties of the job
Dispensary Duties
As part of our dispensary team, you will undertake a range of activities including:
- Supporting the processing of inpatient, outpatient, and discharge prescriptions
- Preparing medicines for supply under supervision
- Contributing to the day-to-day running of the dispensary
You will predominantly be based in the dispensary, helping deliver a comprehensive pharmacy service to acute hospital wards, community hospitals, and other patient settings
***Preference will be given to internal Trust staff, as well as 'Priority' and 'At Risk' status including NHS At Risk staff throughout Devon who are able to display recent relevant experience as dictated by the Person Specification.***

Distribution: The Distribution section of the Pharmacy issues approximately 300,000 medicinal and pharmaceutical products annually to more than 500 locations within University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust, Livewell South West, Devon Partnership Trust, Cornwall Foundation Partnership Trust and numerous non-NHS and commercial organisations. Distribution performs over 4,000 ward top-ups to approximately 50 wards/departments within University Hospitals Plymouth.
Dispensary: This person is expected to accurately label and dispense approximately 200 prescription items daily. They are expected to participate in daily porting duties which include walking to wards and departments for up to 7 hours per day, delivering medicines. This may mean walking up to 10+ miles per day and a constant use of stairs.
