Job summary

The purpose of thispostistosupport medical student teaching within the Geriatric Medicine Department of Derriford Hospital.Thesuccessful candidatewillprovideteaching andsupporttomedical students inyears2,4and 5as well as develop learning resources and occasional teaching of year 1 students. The post holder will split their time between the acute wards and theacutefrailty unitand work closely with the HCE clinical teacher lead and HCE year 5 lead to ensure the smooth running ofstudents' learning pathways. Thepost holderis requiredtotake annualleaveduring the medical student holidaysand to undertake supervised clinical work in both the frailty unit and the HCE wardsduring non-student pathway weeks.

Essential

  • oGMC registration with a current licence to practise and up to date revalidation.
  • oCertificate of completion of foundation training +/- further training.
  • oMinimum 2 full years NHS experience in the UK as a doctor, a year of which must be in the last 2 years
  • oA sound knowledge of basic clinical sciences and the ability to apply this knowledge to clinical practice.
  • oExperience of teaching in any setting.
  • oGood IT skills.
