Job summary

The post holder is expected to help with ongoing research projects and work on research proposal which will lead to either MD or PhD. HPB unit works closely with University of Plymouth and there will be opportunities to work on lab-based research for the successful candidate.

The post is funded by the GI directorate and would involve covering a regular weekly after hours on call commitment shared with other research registrars.

The post holder will work as part of the surgical department within the GI, surgery. All clinical work will take place at Derriford Hospital.

There is an on-call commitment - day/nights/weekends

Main duties of the job

The successful candidates will receive close supervision, mentorship and research training. The appointee will have the opportunity to develop teaching skills within the department, and through the undergraduate teaching programme.

OG Surgery service in University Hospital Plymouth work very closely with University of Plymouth faculty of Medicine and Dentistry and provide extensive teaching for medical students.
