Job summary

We are looking to expand our newly established General Internal Medicine (GIM) team with the recruitment of x 2 GIM Consultants. This service line is the first of its kind at University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust and is an exciting opportunity to be part this innovative and dynamic team.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will manage the non-elective general medical patients admitted from ED/MAU and internal ward transfers.

Duties of the post

  • Inpatient ward rounds inc weekend cover.
  • Clinical Governance.
  • Supporting junior medical staff with training.
  • Attending weekly GIM Meeting.
  • AMU (Acute Medical Unit) - on a rota basis.

Acute Medical Unit

The Acute Medical Unit has recently undergone recent changes with regards to working patterns and this will be re-reviewed again in April 2025.

Currently there will be a requirement to contribute to the AMU and this will be encompassed within 0.84PAs and include up to 12 weekday/ends per year which will be discussed at time of interview.

Standard working hours within AMU are:

Mon - Sun - 20:00-20:00 includes overnight oncall.

*compensatory rest will be allocated via rota.
