Job responsibilities

Complete all required Epic courses and certifications and be an expert in Epic interoperability.

Provides professional technical leadership within their functional area.

Supervises staff on a day-to-day basis within a matrix management model of service delivery.

Manages the design and development of the Trust integration architecture using the latest technologies e.g Intersystems Healthshare Health Connect, Epic Bridges, XML and HL7 under the guidance of the Integration Manager.

Manages the day-to-day operation of the existing integration architecture providing issue rectification as required.

Participates in the development of new strategic methods for information delivery using latest methodologies.

Advises on and supports the processes and systems to ensure that datasets are available to support the statutory reporting requirements of the Trust.

Advises on and supports the development of robust operational processes across the department in line with audit requirements.

Advises on and supports the software development life cycle incorporating full documentation to support change control mechanisms and audit requirements.

The post holder will be required to communicate externally with systems suppliers, developers and NHS staff, as well as internally with both ICT and clinical staff at all levels.

Supports the Integration Team Manager in the delivery of the One Devon EPR Programme.

Supports the Integration Team Manager in the delivery of national IM&T initiatives to support the National Programme.

To deputise for the Integration Team Manager as required through a range of responsibilities within the Trusts D&I management arrangements.

To assist the Integration Team Manager in the development of the service to support and enhance the continual quality initiative ensuring a quality first approach to all aspects of work.

To be familiar with and adhere to the relevant Health & Safety and other organisational policies in force within the Plymouth Healthcare Community.

To undertake other duties as designated by the Integration Team Manager.

To manage the design, development and implementation of new integration architecture for the Plymouth Healthcare Community. This is a complex undertaking that requires detailed technical analysis, interpretation and comparison with a range of possible outcomes. The planning and implementation of new interfaces will require the management of a significant number of complex activities and will necessitate instigating changes across a number of systems and specialties.

To manage the development of the integration architecture including the testing and implementation of modifications and enhancements. This will involve liaising with external agencies, clinical users and IT staff.

To support the Integration Team Manager on the development of new integration technology, concepts and practices.

To acquire and maintain a knowledge of SQL Server and its associated technologies.

To manage the design and development of the database aspects of the systems used within the SDI (Software Development & Integration) department.

To manage the maintenance and future enhancement of the database aspects of the systems used within the SDI department.

Manages the database administration function for relational database management systems used within the SDI department.

To participate in the development of new strategic methods for information delivery using latest methodologies.

To manage the process which ensure that the datasets are available to support the statutory reporting requirements of the Trust.

To take the lead in the guidance of SDI SQL and Integration staff and assistants to develop their database management skills.

To manage the development of robust operational processes across the Technology Department in line with audit requirements.

To manage the compliance to standards in respect of database functions which underpin the software development life cycle incorporating full documentation to support change control mechanisms and audit requirements.

To acquire and maintain a knowledge of the database structures within the SQL Server systems in use within the Trust.

To support the development of team members within their functional area of expertise to develop their procedural programming/integration/sql skills.

To acquire and maintain a knowledge of

the Trust disparate systems, and the data extracted from them.

To acquire and maintain a knowledge of the database structures within the systems developed by the Software Development & Integration Teams.

Person Specification

Qualifications/Experience

Essential

• Educated to degree standard in Software Development or related discipline or a minimum of 2 years relevant demonstrable experience

Desirable

• Experience of Intersystem's Healthshare HealthConnect (formerly Ensemble)
• Epic Bridges Certification

Integration Knowledge

Essential

• Proven knowledge and understanding of HL7
• Good understanding of the Intersystems Healthshare Health Connect suite of integration products
• Good understanding of techniques of integrating data between Information Systems

Desirable

• Proven Knowledge and Understanding of FHIR

Personal Skills

Essential

• Excellent critical thinking skills and experience of resolving complex issues
• Ability to prioritise and manage workload effectively
• Attention to detail and a strong quality first approach
• Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
