Job summary

This post offers an exciting opportunity to join the Infant Feeding team at University Hospitals Plymouth Maternity Service as a Band 3 Infant Feeding Support Worker to assist the multi-professional team in the provision of high-quality infant feeding support.

The post holder will provide an effective and compassionate family-centred maternity service; to ensure optimal care for pregnant people, women, their babies and their families. The post holder will provide this care within patient's homes, community clinics and inpatient settings.

Main duties of the job

Provide support and education to Maternity Support Workers and other colleagues, from initial recruitment, during induction and on-going development. Be a role model in high standards of clinical practice and leadership; ensuring that maternity support workers also provide a high standard of practice which is based on current evidence, guidelines and policies. Assist in the implementation of new guidelines and initiatives from both local and national requirements across all areas of maternity services. Have a visible presence in the clinical environment and provide one to one support and education for the maternity support workers.

The successful candidate will be a dynamic and professional individual who has excellent communication skills and is able to work effectively in a demanding and continually evolving environment.
