University Hospitals NHS Trust is looking to recruit an Apprentice Assistant Practitioner within our Imaging Department. As a Trust, we see the value in supporting the development and progression of our people through apprenticeship pathways, combining vocational learning with on-the-job experience.
You will undertake an Assistant Practitioner Higher Apprenticeshipwhilst you work closely with your new team to gain the essential skills, knowledge and behaviours for this new role. The duration of this apprenticeship will be 24 months and on successful completion you will progress into a Band 4 Assistant Practitioner role.
Assistant practitioners (AP's) are a growing part of our health care workforce and work within our imaging department to undertake imaging examinations under the supervision of a registered radiographer.In order to become an Apprentice AP, you will ideally already be working in a clinical support role such as a healthcare assistant and will hold a healthcare qualification such as NVQ/QCF Level 2/3.
You will work alongside Diagnostic Radiographers and other healthcare professionals as part of an interprofessional team to produce diagnostic images and high levels of patient care.
***Preference will be given to internal Trust staff, as well as 'Priority' and 'At Risk' status including NHS At Risk staff throughout Devon who are able to display recent relevant experience as dictated by the Person Specification.***
Main duties of the job
- To work as part of a team responsible for providing an efficient imaging services at UHPT.
- Attend mandatory training provided by the HEI as part of the Apprenticeship programme.
- Make a commitment to study during the duration of the apprenticeship course, meeting the timescales and deadlines as set by the HEI.
- Attend virtual tutorials and webinars and complete all e-learning as instructed by the HEI.
- Attend tutorials, teaching and CPD events arranged by the Diagnostic Imaging Department as instructed by the Lead Practice Educator
- To perform a range of radiographic imaging procedures, as detailed within the apprenticeship programme, within the Diagnostic Imaging department under the supervision of a supervising radiographer at all times.
- Provide consistently high levels of patient care and radiation protection.
