At the Peninsula Immunology and Allergy Service we are developing our Clinical Psychology provision, and we are looking for an enthusiastic psychologist to join our multi-disciplinary team.

The service supports individuals experiencing significant physical health symptoms associated with the immune system, in inpatient and outpatient settings. Our team strives to provide holistic care and are increasingly aware of the interplay between patients' physical symptoms and their psychological wellbeing. The purpose of this role is to support the development of psychological provision within the Peninsula Immunology and Allergy Service, developing standard operating procedures and embedding psychological practice within the multi-disciplinary team.

We are excited to be advertising this new full time Clinical Psychologist role for two years fixed term. This is an opportunity to shape the psychology input to the service and to build evidence of the value of psychology in this setting. The post holder would be expected to input into the business case for permanent funding of the role and expansion of psychology provision.

Main duties of the job

As a Principal Clinical Psychologist in the Peninsula Immunology and Allergy Service, you will be developing the Immunology and Allergy Psychology Service. You will develop standard operating procedures, based on the best evidence available and after thorough assessment of the needs of the service, its staff, service users, and their loved ones.

You will support the expansion of the service, including Trainee Clinical Psychologist, Assistant Psychologists and Undergraduate Students. This fixed term post provides the opportunity to collect relevant data and experience to support a business case for permanent funding of the role, you will lead the drive for securing this position.

Developing a psychologically informed workforce is a priority for the Peninsula Immunology and Allergy Service. You will lead on training, consultation, reflective practice and facilitating team formulations, to embed clinical psychology within the service. You will offer consultation to support staff to meet the needs of individuals with the most complex psychological needs. Where appropriate, you will liaise with external agencies to provide the best possible care for the individuals accessing the service.

***Preference will be given to internal Trust staff, as well as 'Priority' and 'At Risk' status including NHS At Risk staff throughout Devon who are able to display recent relevant experience as dictated by the Person Specification.***

  • A Professional Doctorate in Clinical Psychology or equivalent e.g. Masters level qualification in Clinical Psychology if qualified before 1996.
  • Active registration as a Practitioner Psychologist with the HCPC.

Desirable

  • Post-qualification specialist therapy/assessment training relevant to clinical health psychology.

Knowledge & Experience

  • Proven knowledge of the policy and legislative context of clinical psychologists working in physical health settings.
