Job summary

StR Lower Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Department 2024 - FIXED TERM

University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust is a trauma centre and one of the largest hospitals in the Southwest.

The Oral and Maxillofacial department is involved in dentoalveolar surgery, facial trauma, orofacial malignancy, the treatment of facial deformities and TMJ surgery.

There is also collaboration with the orthodontic and restorative team.

Working in this post provides opportunities to gain experience in oral & maxillofacial surgery with dedicated/named and supervised local anaesthetic and outpatient clinics.

There are also weekly teaching/educational opportunities and personal study sessions allocated for audit and self-study.

There is a study leave allowance which is great for undertaking postgraduate courses or examinations.

You will be part of a very approachable team and provided with great educational support and hands-on training.

The timetable is a rolling rota providing experience in outpatient clinics, local anaesthetic clinics, theatres, and on-call duties, which provide an interesting daily variation.

Main duties of the job

Role Requirements

The post holder will have full GDC registration with a minimum of one year experience in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, hold the MFDS or equivalent, and have at least two years post qualification experience.

Trust Dental Core Trainee (DCT2/3) equivalent role in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, managing patients seen in outpatient, inpatient, and emergency settings with on-call commitments. This is all within the main hospital site.
