Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Derriford Combined Laboratory for an Associate Practitioner position to work within Chemistry Special Investigations Lab.

The post holder will contribute to the provision of the blood sciences service, as part of a team of Biomedical Scientists and support workers, performing work activities in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures.

Under the guidance of qualified staff, the Associate Practitioner will be responsible for performing a range of scientific procedures on biological samples that contribute to the diagnosis, treatment and monitoring of diseases and the investigation of other pathological processes.

***Preference will be given to internal Trust staff, as well as 'Priority' and 'At Risk' status including NHS At Risk staff throughout Devon who are able to display recent relevant experience as dictated by the Person Specification***

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work together with senior staff and support staff in the CSI Laboratory to produce a timely, high quality, accurate and cost-effective service. Duties will include the preparation and extraction of samples ready for Faecal calprotectin analysis and the running of semi-automated analysers for a variety of different analytes and other general laboratory duties including some clerical work.
