An opportunity has arisen to join University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust, Catering team as a Catering Supervisor/Team Leader within the off-site kitchen in the Estover area.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual who has a passion for customer satisfaction and food safety who can work in a supervisory role as part of a busy Site Services Department and Catering team, within a kitchen environment.
We have a 30hr position available working predominantly 4 out of 7 days which will include every weekend. The successful applicant needs to be flexible and may be required to work various shifts including Bank Holiday's.
***Preference will be given to internal Trust staff, as well as 'Priority' and 'At Risk' status including NHS At Risk staff throughout Devon who are able to display recent relevant experience as dictated by the Person Specification.***
Main duties of the job
- Providing a friendly, efficient, and courteous service is provided to both internal and external customers demonstrating high standards of customer service and food quality at all times
- Correct de-canting, labelling, dating and storage of frozen and chilled products
- Preparation and assembly of patient salads and sandwiches including hospitality functions
- Provide an efficient catering service to patients within the Trust to the level stated in the Service Level specification.
- Cleaning of catering and service equipment including work surfaces, and related equipment manually and by use of machines to hygiene standards
- Maintain Food Safety and Hygiene standards in your work area and apply the food safety procedures applicable in the work areas.
- To correctly use and take care of all equipment and materials associated with tasks.
- Ensure that all equipment is clean and sanitised when required
- Completion of tasks within cleaning schedules and signed off daily
- Participate as a full member of the team, e.g. supporting other staff, participating in team meetings, working flexibly as required to cover other members of the team. Store goods correctly and use stock on a rotational basis to optimise efficiency and minimise food wastage.

The Facilities Department has a wide remit within University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust, with overarching responsibility for the Catering Department to ensure a sufficient service is delivered to our patients.
- Manage food safety and hygiene standards within the department and ensure effective implementation of the Food Safety Policy
- Ensure correct de-canting, labelling, dating and storage of frozen and chilled products
- Preparation and assembly of Patient Salads and Sandwiches including hospitality functions
- Assist in the audit process ensuring that the kitchen passes all internal audits and EHO audits.
- Ensure all record keeping and documentation is completed in a systematic and timely manner
- Provide an efficient catering service to patients within the Trust to the level stated in the Service Level specification.
- Ensure a friendly, efficient, and courteous service is provided to both internal and external customers demonstrating high standards of customer service at all times
- Supervise the day-to-day work of a group of patient catering staff within the off-site kitchen to ensure they meet the required standards
