Neonatal Clinical Senior Sister

Job summary

We are looking for highly motivated, dynamic and experienced Neonatal Nurse who can provide clinical expertise in the delivery of specialist care to neonates and their families within a L3 tertiary NICU. You will need to demonstrate leadership, management and excellent communication skills with extensive neonatal experience. The post holder will be welcomed in to a substantial and supportive Neonatal team.

Applicants will be a registered nurse, able to work a minimum of 10 shifts/rota, qualified in speciality and with a minimum of 2 years Neonatal Sisters experience. You will be responsible on a day to day basis managing nursing and technical support worker teams, clinical leadership, infection prevention and control and standards of patient care; you will act as a positive role model through the provision of effective professional leadership and demonstration of competent, accountable clinical practice and modelling of Trust values.

***Preference will be given to internal Trust staff, as well as 'Priority' and 'At Risk' status including NHS At Risk staff throughout Devon who are able to display recent relevant experience as dictated by the Person Specification.***

Main duties of the job

You will be responsible for the performance management of key individuals within the neonatal service. Through appropriate staff training and education ensure that neonatal care is evidence based and delivered by competent and confident practitioners according to Trust policies and procedures. The successful applicant will empower and develop staff to undertake a greater range of clinical activities to improve patient care. You will provide professional leadership, advice and support to nurses and support workers, acting as an expert resource for all staff within paediatric and neonatal services.

Adopting a highly visible and accessible approach for children/families and staff we would expect any applicant to promote the provision of Family Integrated Care for every baby and their family who are admitted to our Neonatal Services. The successful applicant will play a vital role in leading the team to deliver a partnership relationship with parents/carers and staff to provide non-discriminatory, compassionate care with respect and dignity.
