Job summary
To assist the site shift Foreman in running an a efficient and safe environment for workers and visitors whilst running a clinical incinerator on the trust site.
Objective is to provide a constant 24/7 service to the Hospital Trust in incinerating and or processing clinical and domestic waste streams.
***Preference will be given to internal Trust staff, as well as 'Priority' and 'At Risk' status including NHS At Risk staff throughout Devon who are able to display recent relevant experience as dictated by the Person Specification.***
Main duties of the job
Running an efficient/safe yard to receive clinical waste in wheelie bins of various sizes.
Understand basic current enforcements on waste streams according to Environmental EWC codes.
Assist shift foreman in operational duties and or minor engineering duties.
Communicate with customers/visitors in a professional manner whist they are on site.

Job responsibilities
- Maintaining incinerator operations within specified parameters and if necessary taking appropriate corrective action. Within shift pattern consisting of 12 hours from 0600 1800 for 4 days then 4 days rest followed by 12 hours from1800 0600 for 4 nights rolling.
- Ensuring waste is accepted onto the site in accordance with the Companys Environmental Management Systems.
- Maintaining the cleanliness of all working areas.
- Undertaking plant maintenance as directed by Foreman.
- Ensuring the correct PPE as provided by the company is worn at all times, gloves must be worn in all operations.
- Remaining aware at all times of your responsibilities for your own health and safety and others around you.
- Vehicle offloading in a safe manor according to risk assessments and SOPs provided.
- Installing correct information onto the weighbridge including customer information and correct EWC codes so information can be transferred to main office.
- Carrying out other tasks within your operational abilities as and when required.
- Operating in accordance with company Health and safety procedures at all times.
- Ensuring compliance with company Save Working Procedures and Risk assessments and where to find them.
- Follow and understand Tool Box Talks and where to find them.
- Ability to help in maintenance matters to assist the foreman in hot and dusty conditions within safety boundaries provided by Company.
