Job summary
Applications are invited for the position of Lead Clinical Technologist within Clinical & Radiation Physics Group of the Directorate of Healthcare Science & Technology.
Applicants should possess a relevant degree in Clinical Technology or equivalent and appropriate registration (e.g. RCT/AHCS Practitioner register/HCPC). Applications are also invited from experienced Clinical Technologists that could achieve registration within 12 months for appointment at a lower band until registration is achieved.
The Clinical and Radiation Physics group provides scientific and technical support services for diagnostic radiology, nuclear medicine and radiation protection within the NHS, private and academic sectors. You will be responsible for delivering aspects of the quality assurance programme and radiation protection services for radiology and nuclear medicine equipment. You will act as the professional lead for the technical and support staff in the group. You will be self-motivated and have excellent communication and organisational skills.

Main duties of the job
The Clinical & Radiation Physics Group has an excellent reputation with both internal and external customers. We work closely with our clinical colleagues to deliver high quality, safe and patient centred radiological services imaging services to our patients. We have a history of working collaboratively with colleagues in other departments in the Southwest. The post will be based at Derriford Hospital, Plymouth. A full driving licence is essential as the post involves travel to other sites. Due to the nature of the work performed, some work outside normal working hours may be occasionally required.
University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust provides acute and specialist services to Plymouth and the wider Southwest Peninsula, has teaching status as part of the Plymouth University Peninsula Schools of Medicine, Dentistry, and Radiography, and hosts one of the UK's radiology academies. The Trust hosts the Peninsula Trauma Centre, providing specialist services relevant to the care of major trauma, i.e., general surgery, emergency medicine, vascular, orthopaedic, plastic, spinal, maxillofacial, cardiothoracic and neurological surgery and interventional radiology. Our Trust is expanding rapidly. Developments include new Cardiac Catheter Labs, Linac Bunkers, and a planned new 15,000m2 build ('Future Hospitals') co-locating the Emergency Department and urgent care pathways alongside the addition of dedicated interventional radiology theatre capacity.
