Job summary

Under the direction of the Nurse-in-Charge you will co-ordinate, and deliver effective quality nursing care by assessing the needs, planning, implementing & evaluating the care for a group of patients.

Work as part of a multidisciplinary team

Following a period of Preceptorship take responsibility for the supervision of Health Care Assistants and other learners.

***Preference will be given to internal Trust staff, as well as 'Priority' and 'At Risk' status including NHS At Risk staff throughout Devon who are able to display recent relevant experience as dictated by the Person Specification.***

We are looking for a dynamic, resilient staff nurse who can advocate for their patients. They will be fully supported by a strong management team.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated staff nurse that can be a positive role model for MAU Tavy and share in our vision of providing high quality patient-centred care.

Have good post registration demonstrable experience preferably within acute medicine, although not essential, and to have demonstrable experience in mentoring and developing clinical expertise.

You must be prepared to complete additional training/competencies as required.

This staff nurse must be forward thinking and positive in their approach to change.

You must be compassionate, kind, caring and committed to becoming an Acute Medicine nurse. Training will be provided with ongoing support.

Provide and deliver a high standard of nursing, care (i.e. washing, mouth care, and toileting), recognising and meeting the specific needs of patients.

Provide and prioritise own tasks under the direction of registered nurse.

Document and sign for all observations and care given with counter signature from a registered practitioner.

To promote and safeguard the wellbeing of patients, their families and colleagues.

To share responsibility in the care and maintenance of all equipment on the ward and stock control.

In the absence of a Ward Clerk undertake general ward clerk duties
