It is an exciting time to join the Obstetric Sonography Team at University Hospitals Plymouth (UHP). Investment into the service will enable us to expand our sonography team to ensure that local families have care that is fully compliant with the Saving Babies Lives (version 3) agenda.

Main duties of the job
- To work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to provide the delivery of a high quality responsive specialised ultrasound and midwifery service by maintaining a high level of personal expertise and continual professional development.
- To undertake obstetric ultrasound with support from the onsite Fetal Medicine Team providing women to deliver high quality holistic care.
- To independently report examinations according to the level of reporting authorisation agreed with the clinical lead in ultrasound and Fetal medicine Consultant to meet current FASP and Public Health England standards.

To participate in the delivery of a high-quality responsive ultrasound service, managing an unpredictable workload according to department needs for the Trust.

To be responsible for safely carrying out a wide variety of obstetric ultrasound scans as required: to include fetal anomaly screening, NT measurement, early pregnancy and third trimester, including GROW and supporting fetal medicine consultant / SGA clinic.

To join a multidisciplinary team participating in service delivery, teaching, research, audit and management activities as appropriate.

To independently undertake ultrasound examinations in line with FASP standards, communicating the results to patients and other staff. Provide advice on future patient management / appropriate clinical decisions where appropriate for example: further actions or referrals for further imaging, urgent/immediate referral in accordance with local and National guidelines.

In conjunction with clinical lead to provide high quality training to relevant staff in all aspects of obstetric ultrasound.

To maintain a high level of professionalism and act as a source of expertise to other members of the multidisciplinary team.

Actively monitor and provide support for any updates or when creating guidelines for current area of work/supervision in line with Trust protocols

To be participate responsible as a member of the obstetric ultrasound team for the assessment of care needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes and pathways of care for women and their babies.
