Job summary

University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust is investing in their Oncology services and is delighted to open the opportunity for a Consultant In Medical Oncology to join the team and help develop cancer services.

The successful candidate will be joining the lead tertiary Oncology and Haematology Centre in the SW Peninsula and provides a broad range of specialist treatments.

Facilities include an onsite Chemotherapy Day unit, , three linear accelerators and a team able to deliver IGRT, VMAT/IMRT, primary and oligometastases, lung SABR, HDR Gynae Brachytherapy, Intracranial SRS/T. It is expected that the trust will be commissioned to deliver SABR oligometastases treatments as well as treatment of liver metastases and HCC.

The Oncology Centre is the most research active in the SW Peninsula. All Oncology staff are supported with job-planned dedicated research time, a team of Research Nurses, a dedicated Research Physician Assistant, and administrative staff. Further research opportunities will be available with the University.

Main duties of the job

All Consultants manage their own site-specific workload and participate in our Acute Oncology Service on a 1 week in 12 basis. Secretarial support is provided along with out of hours support via the On-call Registrar.
