Job summary

We would like to invite you to join our friendly team in the glorious West Country. Situated on the beautiful South West coast, Plymouth boasts many local Heritage sites and areas of 'outstanding natural interest'. At Plymouth Hospitals, we recognise that work is only a part of your life - and the Trust is ideally located for walking, cycling, climbing, sailing and many other indoor and outdoor pursuits. Plymouth also has good transport links to the rest of the UK and Europe via road, rail and sea.

Plymouth Hospitals is a large Acute Trust in the Southwest of England, situated on the Devon and Cornwall border and provides perioperative care for elective and emergency patients across the region. The Hospital is a designated Trauma Centre and Tertiary Referral Centre for Neurological and Cardiac patients. The Trust is a teaching hospital with close links to the Peninsula Medical School and the University of Plymouth.

Main Recovery runs 24/7 and covers a wide range of surgical and acute care specialities. We have a great team of practitioners working within the Unit and are looking for someone to expand our numbers and be an integral part of our fantastic care environment.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate this Recovery post must be an enthusiastic and positive individual with a 'can do' attitude. All skills can be taught, so previous experience is not essential. All shifts are done pro rota and will be issued with a good degree of notice. We aim for 6-8 weeks in advance but on occasions it may be less depending on Hospital pressures and demands of the Trust. There is also a need for you to take part of in the On Call roaster. The successful candidate will be expected to care for a wide variety of patients from simple Daycase patients up to ITU level patients. We are part of the Hospital escalation plan for ITU and other acute care settings. Primarily the successful candidate will be involved in Stage 1 post operative recovery although there may be the need to work in other areas, dependant on skills and the need of the Trust. Stage 1 Recovery is the immediate post surgical phase of the patient journey and requires a specific set of skills in order to keep our patients safe and well looked after.

Our Trust core values are 'Put people first', Take ownership', 'Respect others', and 'Be positive', and 'Listen, learn, improve'. If you agree that these values should be integral to your work, then Plymouth Hospitals NHS Trust has much to offer you.

For further information, an informal discussion about the role or to arrange a visit to the team, please contact HODP Dave Pendletonon01752 433100 or Matron Sue Johnson.
