We are therefore seeking applications from enthusiastic , flexible and highly dedicated therapy radiographers who would like to develop their knowledge, care and skills in a forward thinking and technically advancing department. We are currently seeking a mix of motivated professional Radiographers to join our expanding Radiotherapy team.

Joining our Radiotherapy team, you will benefit from working as part of a friendly, well organised and social group who are very patient focussed.

We routinely support post graduate training for Radiographers, CPD, training and skills development, both in-house and through external courses.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will a clinical team leader in an area requiring demonstrable clinical expertise and will be directly responsible for the daily organisation of a busy Linear Accelerator with a varied and highly complex workload. The post holder will be responsible for ensuring highly accurate and consistent standards in the treatment delivery and the management of associated side effects of patients with a cancer diagnosis.

Additionally the post holder works closely with a multi-disciplinary team including Radiotherapy Physicists, Technicians, pre-treatment Radiographers, Oncologists and other professional groups to provide a thorough, efficient service encompassing all aspects of accurate Radiotherapy treatment delivery and patient care.

The post holder will provide specialist clinical training and supervision of junior staff, new staff, students and other health professionals within their area of accountability.

About us

The Plymouth Oncology Centre is a paperlite facility equipped with Varian Medical Systems Linear Accelerators and has a fully integrated ARIA network.We offer a diverse patient workload including TBI, DIBH, Gynaecological Brachytherapy, Cranial (SRS/SRT) and primary lung SABR and oligomets. This does offer plenty of learning and development opportunities for all staff members.

The department has a dedicated pre-treatment equipped with a new GE Discovery Wide-bore model. We perform 4D-CT scans and can see this area expanding further in the near future.

We have a busy Radiotherapy Support Services area. Staff in this area facilitate Oncologist and Radiographer on treatment reviews. We also have Radiographers who are trained in consent and non-medical Independent Prescribing.

The treatment floor houses 3 Varian Linacs all with rotational IMRT and IGRT capabilities. We have a mixture of Trubeam, IX and Novalis units which are all beam matched.

Available as a fixed term contract or secondment opportunity (with current line manager's agreement).

Secondment with the possibility of becoming permanent.
