Job summary
Plymouth has one of the highest incidences of skin cancer in the United Kingdom and the diagnosis and management of skin cancer makes up a significant part of the workload of the dermatology department. We are supported by a large plastic surgery department, but believe that dermatology should be at the forefront of skin cancer therapy, both non-surgical and surgical including Moh's micrographic surgery.
The Dermatology Department is committed to maximising the positive impact of research in dermatology and across the Trust: promoting evidence based practice to improve patient outcomes and experience. If successfully appointed you will become part of a dynamic multidisciplinary team keen to push boundaries and find new ways of working.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will undertake research looking into all clinical aspects relating to adult and paediatric patients with inflammatory and malignant skin conditions. His/her role will be to promote research participation within the department.
Our recent trials include novel treatments for common inflammatory condition like psoriasis and eczema. The research work undertaken is expected to lead to a higher degree (MD or PhD).
