Acute Stroke Response Nurse
The closing date is 29 May 2025
Job summary
Are you passionate about delivering life-saving care at the most critical moments? We are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled Acute Stroke Response Nurse to join our forward-thinking stroke service. This is a fast-paced, autonomous role where your decisions and actions directly influence outcomes for patients experiencing a potential stroke.
You will play a pivotal role in the rapid identification, assessment, and management of stroke patients--ensuring that time-critical interventions are delivered in line with best practice and national stroke guidelines. Working at the frontline of emergency care, you will be the first clinical point of contact for suspected stroke patients arriving in the Emergency Department or being referred from the community, GP, or ambulance service.
The post holder will work closely with stroke consultants, registrars, emergency physicians, radiology teams and wider multidisciplinary colleagues to ensure each patient is accurately assessed and guided through the appropriate stroke care pathway. This includes the initiation of thrombolysis protocols, requesting urgent imaging, and escalating for thrombectomy where appropriate.
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a specialist nursing team that is central to the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred stroke care. You will provide expert nursing leadership and clinical oversight, helping to drive improvements in service delivery, patient safety, and stroke outcomes across the trust.
