Job summary

King's Mill Hospital has a purpose built Orthotic manufacturing suite to support our 'in-house' Clinical service and we are seeking an experienced Prosthetic or Orthotic Technician to join our team.

Self-motivated, enthusiastic, and with experience in a P+O Technical manufacturing role, the post requires the individual to produce a range of bespoke devices to specification. Therefore a practical aptitude and a desire to learn new skills are essential, along with a problem solving nature.

Candidates should be able to demonstrate good teamwork, communication and record keeping. The ability to produce quality goods to a high standard will be essential. Experience of plaster rectification and thermoplastic production techniques would be ideal, as would some CADCAM knowledge but local training can be given.

Main duties of the job

* Interpretation of specifications written by clinicians and independent production of devices to a high standard.

* The manufacture, modification, servicing and repair of bespoke medical devices using a variety of hand tools, gypsum, sheet materials, solvents, adhesives, and machinery.

* Interaction with Clinicians, patients and their relatives, and other health professionals.
