Main duties of the job

Our Team - Solutions Development Service Line

The Solutions Development Team design, develop, implement, and support bespoke applications to customer organisation requirements. These can provide any desired functionality such as data collection, information storage and retrieval or interactivity with remote data sources. Where patient data needs to be shared between departmental or organisational clinical systems, the team have the experience to implement and support these critical data flows. The team's core capabilities are in the provision of solutions which provide clinical benefits and workflows. This focus on secure data handling, interoperability and above all patient care, sets NHIS apart from private sector providers

About us

Nottinghamshire Health Informatics Service (NHIS) are an Information Management & Technology (IM&T) service provider. We supply digital services including Infrastructure Management, Cyber Security, a full range of 1st, 2nd & 3rd Line Technical Support Services, along with Professional and Transformation services including Project Management & Training teams. NHIS are a shared service hosted by Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (SFHFT) supporting Health and Care organisations across the Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Integrated Care System (ICS). We work collaboratively with our partner & customer organisations to help deliver their digital & transformational initiatives & strategies, providing expertise and knowledge gained through years of experience. We provide support to over 13,000 users at nearly 800 sites with around 150 internal dedicated staff. Our main aim is to help improve health and care services for citizens by working with organisations to improve the digital experience for the Health and Care workforce and for our local population, ultimately providing a data rich ICS with a focus on the sharing of information and interoperability.

  • To provide design expertise facilitating timely access to and processing of accurate information across the health community by using up to date technical solutions.
  • To actively support the day to day development of the Partners line of business systems and other applications to ensure information is processed appropriately.

Qualifications- Academic/ Craft/ Professional/Further Training

Essential

  • Degree level qualification or equivalent experience in systems development.
  • GCSE Maths and English grade C or above

Desirable

  • ONC or NVQ Level 2/3 in computer based topic

Knowledge Requirements

Essential

  • Good working knowledge and experience of MS Office i.e. Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Good working knowledge of the latest web development technologies and integrated development environments.
  • Good analytical skills. Proven analytical and judgemental skills which demonstrate an ability to assess options available and solve problems
  • Ability to manage own time effectively. plan and organise tasks and activities to meet the needs of the solutions development service
  • Ability to assess priority and adjust plans accordingly to meet the needs of the service and the customers
  • Use effective planning and organisation skills to work under pressure and meet service and customer led deadlines.
  • Self-motivated, innovative, flexible, and adaptable.
  • Ability to work as part of a team

  • Knowledge of information systems analysis
  • Good working knowledge of techniques for building web applications using the full Microsoft stack (.NET Core; MS SQL Server) and IDE (e.g. Visual Studio).
  • Good working knowledge of techniques for building Cloud hosted applications (e.g. Azure).
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft O365 products (Office Suite, but also ideally SharePoint Online and Power Apps).
  • Good working knowledge of techniques for delivering Content Management Systems in SharePoint and/or Umbraco.
  • Familiarity with message flows in a healthcare context (HL7; FHIR) and how Trust Integration Engines can be used to handle them..
