An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and committed individual to join the Acute Medical Team at King's Mill Hospital, part of Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
You will be employed by the Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and will be based at King's Mill Hospital where you will be part of a team providing clinical services to the Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and surrounding population of 400,000.
Main duties of the job
The Acute Medical Team consists of a number of highly committed consultants working alongside a team of dedicated nurses and allied health professionals. We areresponsible for the care of patients presenting with acute medical conditions who are managed within the Emergency Assessment Unit, the Ambulatory Emergency Care Unit and those patients who may progress onto the short stay ward.Our acute medical admissions average approximately 50-60 per day, with the majority being admitted through the Emergency Assessment Unit.It is afull-time position but candidates wishing to work part-time or in a job share are encouraged to apply. If a part-time or job-share person is appointed modification of the job content will be discussed with the appointee on a personal basis.A full and comprehensive induction programme is available for the successful candidate.

Job responsibilities
- To undertake general clinical care of patients attending the hospital with urgent medical conditions and any documentation in relation to their care. This work involves adult patients of all ages and includes clerking of admissions and post take ward rounds. Your work will be based within the remit of acute medical areas which includes the Emergency Admissions Ward, Short Stay Unit and Ambulatory Emergency Care.
- To lead the team of junior medical staff and Advanced Clinical Practitioners and provide supervision for the junior team members.
- To provide ward based / cross team cover in the absence of other junior staff on the ward.
- To participate in Consultant ward rounds.
- To perform emergency duty in the wards as required and offering advice to the Emergency Department clinicians as required.
- To participate with teaching, audit and research undertaken in the department.
- The overriding purpose is to support the provision of the highest quality patient care through personal actions and continuous professional improvement.
