Job summary
An opportunity has arisen for a band 6 Radiographer to join our dedicated friendly team. We are looking for a well-motivated and flexible radiographer who will work cross site between Newark Hospital and King's Mill Hospital in Sutton-in-Ashfield. This will include late shifts and weekend on call at Newark Hospital and the option of on call at the Kings Mill site. The Radiology Department is fully digital throughout with mobile digital units; there are also 2 CT scanners with a third at Newark Hospital. The post is rotational within the 2 radiology departments with the opportunity (depending on skill and experience) to rotate through CT . This post will include participation in the Dosewatch program. The service is committed to the continued education of our radiographers and CPD is actively supported.
Main duties of the job
- Perform x-ray examinations to a high standard, whilst observing the Ionising Radiations Regulations 17 and the Ionising Radiations (Medical Exposures) Regulations 2017 and the Local rules.
- Supervise area of work to include band 5 radiographers and imaging assistants.
- Communicate effectively in an appropriate manner, information to patients and staff concerning radiological examinations.
- Communicate with external MDT teams and professionals to ensure high standards of patient care and an efficient service.
- Be aware of the responsibilities placed on him/her under the Health and safety at Work Act, 1974 and subsequent Health and Safety legislations ensuring that the agreed safety procedures are carried out and maintaining a safe environment for staff and visitors.
- Contribute to deliver and improving a high quality service, by participation in the department's Quality Assurance and Standards setting programmes, and by updating skills and knowledge on a continuing basis and
