Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is looking for an enthusiastic, capable and adaptable ACCP to join the expanding and evolving Critical Care team in a new role for the department. The 13 bed unit admits at King's Mill Hospital has a mixture of medical and surgical level 2/3 patients in an acute 550 bed hospital located in the Midlands.
You will work autonomously in a hybrid medical-ACCP rota at an advanced clinical level. The rota covers 7 days 0800-2300. This may change as the ACCP service evolves. You will directly deliver high quality care, making complex clinical decisions based on thorough clinical assessment, the interpretation of diagnostic interventions, and delivery of therapeutic intervention.
20% of time will be non-clinical for training, teaching, leadership, management, service development and quality improvement activity.
Main duties of the job
Your main role will be to work as an autonomous member of the clinical team to meet the needs of patients, supporting the delivery of a safe, high quality service.
This will involve attending and presenting at multidisciplinary team (MDT) handovers and ward rounds. You will review patients, including acutely unwell patients referred for admission to critical care, initiate treatment, formulate management plans and collaborate with colleagues and allied specialties. You will report to the on-call/continuity Consultant.
You will ensure adherence to highest standards of care, good compliance with clinical governance process and facilitate continual learning and improvement.

Essential
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and confidence to discuss patient management with other members of the MDT
- Broad & advanced knowledge of clinical pathophysiology
- Has a sound level of knowledge in relation to invasive and non-invasive diagnostic and therapeutic procedures
- Ability to take a full systematic focused history
- Ability to make a diagnosis based on interpretation of imaging and pathology results
- Has the knowledge to support safe clinical decision making in relation to discharge
- Proven management skills- effective organisational abilities, supervisory skills, leadership skills, change management skills. Clinical governance, current health service priorities. National and local nursing agenda
- IT literate
Qualifications-Academic/ Craft/ Professional
Essential
- Current registration with professional body such as NMC or HCPC
- MSc in advanced clinical practice or equivalent MSc
- Registered Independent Non-Medical prescriber
- Evidence of teaching, supervision & assessment skills
- Advanced Life Support provider
Desirable
- Mentor/assessor and/or teaching qualification
- Advanced Life Support Instructor
- Advanced/European Paediatric Life Support Provide/Instructor
- Point of care ultrasound accreditation
Experience

- Currently working as a qualified ACCP/ACP
- Extensive post registration experience in Critical Care
- Completed portfolio of supervised practice in advanced clinical practice
- Evidence of continued professional development following MSc completion
- ACCP membership of FICM (or willingness to undertake further training to achieve accreditation)
- Clinical work in an autonomous role
