Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Registered Nurse to apply for a position within the Professional Education and Training Team to support the delivery of clinical based skills training, clinical induction and mandatory training for non-medical healthcare staff.

The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate a high level knowledge and experience in the development and implementation of a broad range of learning and development initiatives, be a skilled and inclusive educator, have excellent interpersonal and organisational skills and the ability to think, plan and act creatively and objectively. Working in a small team you will support our current and future workforce by teaching theory, delivering simulated practice sessions and also assessing staff competency in clinical practice.

Main duties of the job

Delivery of clinical based skills training, clinical induction and mandatory training for non-medical healthcare staff including simulated practice, and assessment of competency for the delivered clinical skills in the practice setting. Verification and final sign-off of competency of skills in a timely manner on the Sherwood eAcademy.

Development of new high quality evidence-based training courses to meet the needs of the Trust, and review and maintenance of the current courses the team delivers.

The role will involve travel to other sites of Sherwood Forest Hospitals and potentially external meetings with local academies, colleges and universities to support work placements for students.

The post holder will carryout the delivery and facilitation, development, support the co-ordination of a broad range of training, education, development activities and induction programmes for nursing, allied health professionals and other staff groups where appropriate. These will include such activities as mandatory update training courses, multi-professional clinical inductions, specialist clinical training courses, and the delivery of training to external organisations to support the departments income generation activities.

To work with the Team Leader for Professional Education and Training to develop and implement quality assurance and monitoring systems to ensure high quality delivery of professional training is maintained.

To work in partnership with key internal and external stakeholders to provide and deliver a co-ordinated approach to multi/ inter-professional learning through the delivery and development of a range of training initiatives.

To support the Team Leader for Professional Education and Training to develop and deliver new professional training initiatives to meet the needs of the organisation.

To support the Trust's widening participation agenda by supporting a broad range of activities such as school visits, providing and supporting work placement opportunities and attending open days.

Participate in the evaluation of training and education delivered against identified aims and objectives to ensure standards are maintained and to identify and introduce improvements to training and educational activities.

To ensure the development and maintenance and of relevant high quality training and education resource materials within the Trust.

To collect and collate data relating to placement evaluations and contribute to the production of reports on training, education and development activities.

Contribute to the achievement of the Trusts strategy relating to training, education, service improvement, patient safety, national initiatives and patient care on an ongoing basis through the delivery of a wide range of training activities.

Ensure that all day to day activities support the principles of equality and diversity and that these principles are carried through in the design, delivery and content of education and training activities.
