Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for enthusiastic, professional, reliable and highly motivated Trainee Biomedical Scientists to join the pathology team on a 12 month fixed term contract at this busy district general hospital rated as Excellent at a recent CQC inspection. The appointees will be based within the UKAS accredited Biochemistry department at King's Mill Hospital which is housed in state of the art facilities.

Main duties of the job

This is a 12 month fixed term contract for Trainee BMS (AFC band 4).

A HCPC accredited Biomedical Sciences degree is essential. Applicants who do not hold an accredited degree or applicants who require top up modules WILL NOT be considered for interview.

Full training and supportwill be given and a training officerwill guide youthrough the IBMSRegistration Portfolio over the 12 months of the contract. By the end of the 12 months it is an expectation of the role that you will have successfully completed the registration portfolio and the external assessment and be eligible to apply for HCPC registration.

  • Some knowledge of laboratory investigations, processes and procedures Knowledge of laboratory safety, including infectious diseases, COSHH, spillages, waste disposal
  • Computer and keyboard skills together with experience of common software packages
