Job summary
The Nottinghamshire ICS are looking to recruit a core team of vaccinators that will lead the way with administering vaccinations to the general public of Nottinghamshire.
We would actively encourage applications from experienced vaccinators and those who can administer vaccines under PGD.
In line with legislation changes due to come in to place on the 6th November 2020, the following staff groups are also eligible to undertake immunisations following training and under supervision and are also encouraged to apply
- Health Students ( Medical and Dental)
- St Johns volunteers
- Those with some first aid training and who fulfil the education and experience requirements eg airline staff, lifeguards etc
- HCSW
- Pharmacy Technicians
- Physician Associates
- Phlebotomists
It is expected that you will be available to undertake the mandatory training package prior to commencing in these roles.
Main duties of the job
The seasonal flu and pandemic immuniser will work as part of a dynamic team in delivering a safe and effective service for the mass delivery of vaccinations for both influenza and the COVID-19 vaccine(s). The post holder will be responsible for administering the vaccine to citizens within a team of staff working in a pod structure as part of the mass vaccination delivery model.
About us
As this is bank work, you will be able to pick and choose the number of days that you work. Shifts will be available in 6 hour blocks between 8-8pm 7 days a week. Regardless of whether you are available to work 6 hours a week or 40 hours a week we would love to hear from you, any contribution is welcome. You will not be expected to leave your substantive role, in fact its an excellent opportunity to compliment it and expand your skill set.
You will be based at one of various sites in either the city of Nottingham, the Mansfield area or going out to Care Homes to vaccinate both Residents and Staff .

- Educated to NVQ 4 level in a relevant subject or equivalent level of qualification or significant equivalent previous proven experience.
- Diploma or equivalent appropriate qualification, e.g. foundation degree; or NVQ3 level qualification plus short courses or relevant experience to diploma level
Desirable
- First aid training
- Experience in giving injections or immunisations previously
Knowledge and experience
Essential
- Commitment and willingness to undertake learning and development courses as required to ensure competency for role, this will include vaccine training, administration training, basic life support and NHS statutory and mandatory training.
