About us

The obstetrics and gynaecology department is a busy unit with a full range of services currently arranged across both sites. The Denmark Hill (DH) site provides care for the surrounding population as well as undertaking tertiary referral work. The Princess Royal University hospital site (PRUH) provides obstetric and gynaecology care for women living locally with referral of complex cases for review on the Denmark Hill site.

There are currently 10 gynaecology beds, a dedicated gynaecology theatre and a day surgery unit based on the DH site. Inpatient gynaecology is split between the Denmark Hill site and the PRUH site, with the majority taking place at the PRUH. Day-case and ambulatory services along with a full range of outpatient activity will be provided at both sites.

There is a well-developed Early Pregnancy Unit (EPU) and One-Stop general gynaecology clinic service at DH. As well as providing general gynaecology, the service also supports special interests in gynaecological oncology, colposcopy, urodynamics, urogynaecology, infertility, assisted conception and a specialist menopause service. The department delivers a service principally to local women in the catchments of the two sites and maintains excellent links with local General Practitioners.

Dedicated gynaecology beds are available for emergency and complex elective work at the DH site run by Women's services.
