Job summary
We are seeking a motivated and experienced pharmacist who is passionate about clinical trials to join the Pharmacy Clinical trials Team at King's College Hospital.
The post holder will lead and manage Pharmacy clinical trial activities, liaise between the Trust R&D team and the pharmacy team to ensure that pharmacy services meet the required standards and are responsive to the Trust's R&D agenda.
The post holder will also encourage and support research undertaken by pharmacy staff, line manage a Senior Clinical Trials Pharmacist (and may manage other staff) and be involved in the delivery and development of pharmacy services to patients entered into clinical trials at King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
The post holder will be responsible for ensuring the pharmacy clinical trials service is compliant with national legislative requirements. This will require good team management and close liaison with Specialist Care Group Pharmacists and the Specialist pharmacist for clinical trials, Kings Health Partners.
The post holder will provide specialist input and advice on all aspects on medicines management in drug trials, in particular safe management of Investigational Medicinal Products (IMPs) within the Trust. They will liaise with the King's Health Partners Clinical Trial Office (KHPCTO), and other King's Health Partners staff regarding all aspects of clinical trial sponsor and host responsibilities including pharmacovigilance and product recall where required.
Main duties of the job
To lead on support, advice and management in relation to the IMP management of clinical trials in the Trust
To develop clinical trial pharmacy services in line with national objectives and King's Health Partners strategies
To manage workflow of Clinical Trial dispensaries
To manage a portfolio of Clinical Trial of Investigational Medicinal Product(CTIMP) and Advanced Therapy Investigational Medicinal Products (ATIMP) trials
To establish processes for measuring standards of service and reporting on performance
To identify and manage risks associated with the medicines use process relevant to clinical trials
To identify strategic needs to support clinical trials in future and contribute to the development of business plans to meet these needs
To act as a clinical role model in relation to highly specialist expertise in the area of clinical trials and demonstrate the ability to provide safe, clinically effective and cost efficient use of clinical trial drugs in these patients
To provide highly specialised and complex evidence-based clinical advice and information to pharmacy, nursing, medical and other healthcare professionals on the care and treatment of patients
To review and approve National contract value review (NCVR) pharmacy costing.
Lead, coach and manage the performance of the team in line with good people management practices
Participate in regular performance appraisal meetings and ensure each member of the team has a clear set of objectives and development plans
