Research Governance Administrator - Band 4

£33,094 - £36,195 Inclusive of HCAS Per Annum

Fixed term Contract: 12 months - Full time - 37.5 hours per week

The Research Governance Administrator will undertake research governance activities (such as research passport administration, review of study amendments, study archiving) and will function as a member of the Research and Development team through provision of dedicated administrative support, mainly for the Research Governance Team.

Main duties of the job

The Research Governance Team is responsible for all governance related checks involved in the set-up, maintenance and close down of non-commercial research at King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

The successful post holder will assist in managing the Governance Team shred inbox and be responsible for allocating work appropriately and responding to simple queries.

  • Ensure appropriate confidentiality of records and information (verbal, written and computerised).
  • Be able to deal effectively with queries relating to research governance processes.
  • To robustly manage the Research shared mailbox in conjunction with the Research Facilitators
  • To prepare and administer reviews of participating site amendments for studies where the Trust or Kings College London is a participating site.

Essential

  • Educated to a minimum of GCSE grade C or equivalent in Maths and English.
  • Evidence of professional development e.g. courses (in administration, project management) or further education

Knowledge & Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working in an administration / coordinator or office management role
  • Ability to work under pressure and exercise judgement when dealing with inquiries.
  • Ability to coordinate projects to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work without supervision and use own initiative
  • Ability to concentrate even with frequent interruptions and unpredictable working pattern.

Desirable

  • Previous experience in the NHS or in a Higher Education setting.
  • Interest in research

  • ECDL or proven equivalent experience in MS Office Package, email and Internet browsers; Advanced keyboard use.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills combined with an effective and courteous telephone manner.

  • Able to demonstrate tact and diplomacy.
