Job summary
This is a fixed term locum Consultant post to cover sabbatical. The remit of the postholder will be to work within the multi-disciplinary team providing and further developing care for obstetrics and gynaecology especially Gyn Oncology services, and to provide and develop Women's services to the Trust's Gynaecology patients. In addition, the individual will be required to play an active role in the general workload of the Care Group while having a significant commitment to teaching and training of junior staff
Main duties of the job
- Together with the other Consultants to provide obstetrics and gynaecology services for women attending King's College Hospital. This includes all aspects of treatment and relevant management duties required for the proper functioning of the department.
- Shared responsibility with the other Consultants for providing 24 hour, 7 day a week cover for the Obstetrics and Gynaecology on-call rota basis. Responsible also for covering colleague's periods of annual leave and short-term sickness/absence.
- Manage women in high risk Obstetrics clinics and One Stop Gynaecology Clinics.
- Clinical supervision of junior medical staff as a shared responsibility with other consultant colleagues.
- Responsible for carrying out teaching, examination and accreditation duties as required and contributing to Continuing Medical Education and clinical governance initiatives.
- To contribute to departmental research interests in accordance with the Trust's R&D framework.
- To contribute to the Audit Programme.
- To take an active role in the formulation, implementation and monitoring of the Care Group's Business Plan. This may include assisting with discussions regarding service plans and developments with both internal and external agencies.
- To conduct all activities within the contracted level of service and operating plan for Women's services.
