Job summary

The remit of the post holder will be to work within the multi-disciplinary team providing and further developing care for patients within the service. In addition, the individual will be required to play an active role in the general workload of the Care Group while having a significant commitment to teaching and training of junior staff.

Main duties of the job

Successful candidates will have the opportunity to gain experience of working in a large tertiary critical care department under the mentorship of consultants with a range of tertiary hospital sub specialist interests (including, but not limited to: major trauma; neurology and neurosurgery; cardiology and cardiothoracic surgery; haematology including haemoncology.

  • At least 1 year of working within critical care OR 6 months working within critical care and 3 years working within an acute medical specialty (anaesthesia, emergency medicine, acute medicine, internal medicine specialties)

Desirable

  • Evidence of special commitment to critical care
  • Demonstrable research and teaching experience
  • Experience of working within the NHS

Personal skills and attributes

Essential

  • Effective communicator, able to work in a close-knit team and co-operate with all medical and paramedical staff.
